The Bombers Eggbutt Happy Tongue horse bit will prevents pinching of the horses lips at the side of the mouth. The eggbutt provides a more solid feel against the side of the horses face and as a result can help with steering. The Eggbutt design also prevents the bit being pulled through the mouth. The release is slower and also introduces some poll pressure.
The Happy Tongue is a solid mouth piece molded from one piece of sweet iron. Curved and ported in its design, the shape gives automatic relief of pressure on the horses tongue. As a result this can stop your horse from trying to put their tongue over the bit and can also reduce head tossing when pressure is applied to the reins.
The Happy Tongue would be a good place to start if your horse is doing any of the following;
- Trying to put its tongue over the bit
- Shaking its head
- Sticking its tongue out over the bit
- Sucking its tongue back and thus making an intermittent coughing noise
- Snatching the reins forward and down
- Going behind the bit to avoid the contact
