Bombers Bits Elliptical Pelham
The Bombers Bits Elliptical Pelham has a 45mm lozenge, that encourages the horse to mouth the bit. By mouthing the bit will often help to relax the horse and It is stronger than the Control Plate due to it having a smaller surface area. Consequently, a horse using his tongue as a means of pushing against the bit and therefore taking control, will draw back and tuck his chin in, coming back to a better point of control.
The Pelham has attachments for two reins, one near the mouthpiece and one at the end of the shank. These reins have similar action to the curb and bridoon reins in the double bridle.
Some riders, not adept at handling two sets of reins, prefer to use rein connectors, leather loops which connect from one ring to the other on the bit shank. The rein is then attached to this Pelham rounding. This ensures that the rider is able to ride with just one set of reins.
The Pelham has the shortest shank (55 mm) out of our range, this will soften poll pressure and leverage on the mouthpiece and curb. If you are interested in a longer shank please feel free to ask.
It is supplied with curb chain and hooks.
