Horse Draw Reins

Draw reins are a schooling aid used to encourage a horse to work in a rounder, more collected outline, bringing the head down to activate the hindquarters and encourage engagement through the back and neck. Used correctly and in short sessions alongside your normal horse reins, they can be a useful tool for improving suppleness and way of going, particularly for horses that tend to work above the contact.

Every draw rein in this collection comes from Dy’on, a Spanish brand known for producing high-quality leather tack with a focus on softness and durability. The range covers several construction styles: full leather options using soft Spanish hide, leather and rope combinations that give a lighter feel through the hand, and half rubber versions for riders who want extra grip. Whether you are working a young horse just learning to accept contact or refreshing a more experienced horse’s training, there is a suitable option in the range.

Draw reins are always used over a correctly fitted bridle, so if you are building out a schooling setup it is worth checking your nosebands and breastplates and martingales are suitable for the work you are doing. Riders focusing on flatwork and collection may also want to browse our dressage saddle pads and dressage girths, or explore the full bridlework range.
